In 2012, I partnered with artists Todd & Jessica Russell, to own & curate The Merchant Co., our "shop full of awesome" on Congress Street in downtown Portland with a focus on supporting local artists, local economy, sustainable design and small business.. We sell our own work as well as the work of about 100 local artist & makers, vintage one-of-a-finds and vinyl records, both old & re-issued. 

It's a dream come true. The shop allows me to create designs or products, price them & put them on the floor, gather immediate feedback without too much risk. We're blessed with an abundance of smart, creative, interesting regular customers and their opinions are priceless. And then, there are our vendors - the artists who consign their work to the shop. Creative & productive, the conversations we have about their work and processes are always inspiring and will keep you from thinking you can rest on your laurels.
